GFWC Woman's Club of Martinsburg

The GFWC Woman's Club of Martinsburg was organized February 9, 1926. Today, it has about 30 active members who are engaged in a variety of community and civic projects. The Club is an affiliate of the GFWC WV and was federated April 12, 1926. Since its inception, the Martinsburg Club has been active in a wide area of projects. One of its most notable accomplishments was establishing the Martinsburg Public Library. Many local organizations turned down the project because they thought "it couldn't be done." The Woman's Club thought otherwise, marshaled its members, and became the force that founded the library.

Membership encompasses diverse backgrounds and includes artists, educators, computer professionals, managers, and professional moms. All are united by the desire to be a positive influence in the community and the world. Our members continue to broaden the areas of service and strive to be an integral part of Martinsburg and Berkeley County.

The 2014-2016 GFWC West Virginia State President is Jody Cunningham of Williamstown, WV. Her administration's theme is "Inspire a new Generation," and her special project is "Pennies for Art" and her goal is also to increase awareness and prevention of bullying in the schools.
